7 Best Cafes in Hervey Bay (Coffee, Brunch & Water Views)

Best Cafes in Hervey Bay

Let’s be honest, not all cafes deserve your time (or your tastebuds). If you’re visiting the bay and you’re wondering where to grab your beloved flat white or brunch with a view, I’ve got you covered. These are the 7 best cafes in Hervey Bay (local approved).

As someone who lives here (and takes coffee very seriously), I’ve done the sipping, brunching, and people-watching to bring you the real gems. From beachfront favourites to tucked-away espresso bars, this is your go-to guide to cafes in Hervey Bay that are actually worth the wake-up call.

1. The Spotted Goat Kitchen

📍 Shop 3, 486 Esplanade Torquay

The Spotted Goat is what happens when a café gets everything right – from the rich, dark chocolate 5 Senses house blend, to a menu stacked with flavour and zero fluff. Set along Hervey Bay’s scenic Esplanade, it’s got a comfy fit out that somehow feels both cool-coastal and cozy.

You’ll find locals rolling in for their regulars, travellers comparing whale watching notes and brunch-lovers galore.

Best For: Impeccable service & flavour-packed breaky/brunch

Top Tip: Get there early (on the dot) to secure a table. There’s a line out the door for this place.

2. Enzos on the Beach

📍 351a Esplanade, Scarness

If you only had one day in Hervey Bay and could visit just one café – I’d suggest Enzo’s. Purely based on the fact that is has the best view in town. Enzos is literally on the beach, with waterfront tables and views of K’gari Fraser Island.

The coffee’s not too bad, the view is unbeatable, and the menu leans into brunch classics. It’s the kind of place you’ll wish you found earlier – equal parts relaxed and scenic.

Best For: Ocean views & long brunches.

Top tip: Enzo’s also has a fantastic tapas and drinks menu. It’s the perfect place to unwind and watch the sun go down (be sure to book though – the place gets busy).

3. Salt Cafe Urangan

📍 569 Esplanade, Urangan

Salt is casual dining experience with food that’s really great value for money. Bonus: it’s right on the water, so you’ll also get bayside views. The coffee is usually reliable, but the views and location make up for it. Don’t be surprised if you accidentally stay for hours.

Best For: Value for money + laid-back views

Top tip: If you’re visiting on the weekend, be sure to book a table early. It can get really busy.

4. Seabreeze Cafe

📍 469 Esplanade, Torquay

Seabreeze is the kind of unpretentious local gem that nails both coffee and community vibes. With indoor/outdoor seating and a killer menu, this location hits the sweet spot between casual and memorable.

You’ll see everyone here — early risers, dog walkers, families, laptop warriors and the service always comes with a smile. Bonus: It’s directly opposite the beach, so the post-brunch stroll is built in.

Best For: Tasty breakfasts + that low-key locals-only vibe

5. Decoy Coffee

📍 1/58 Islander Rd, Pialba

If you’re serious about coffee, head straight to Decoy. Tucked away, just off the beach (and just up the road from Enzo’s) in Scarness, this is Hervey Bay’s worst-kept secret for specialty coffee nerds.

Expect expertly dialled-in shots, silky milk texture and baristas who treat espresso with the kind of reverence usually reserved for fine wine. If you’re into finding cafes in Hervey Bay with character and community vibes, Decoy is an easy choice.

Best For: Coffee purists + those that need a glimpse of the water

Top tip: Decoy is open weekdays only, so be sure to visit Monday through Friday.

6. The Depot Espresso Bar

📍 42 Chapel Rd, Nikenbah

Tucked away in the historic Nikenbah railway station, The Depot Espresso Bar offers a charming blend of heritage and hospitality. With its restored timber interiors and eclectic decor, this cafe provides a cozy retreat from the usual bustle. Everyone we’ve spoken to raves about the consistently excellent coffee and homemade treats, including a standout carrot cake that’s become a local favourite – and after visiting, I couldn’t agree more.

The coffee is always consistent and has great flavour. Whether you’re cycling along the nearby rail trail or exploring the Fraser Coast, The Depot is a delightful stop for quality coffee and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Best For: Cozy vibes + consistent coffee

Top tip: Seating is limited here, so be sure to get there early.

7. Aquavue Cafe

📍 415a Esplanade, Torquay

Aquavue wins major points for location alone — perched right on the water with a view that demands you sit back, slow down and stay a while. The coffee here is always consistent, offering a wide selection of brakfast, lunch and dinner options.

They even offer SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) & kayak hire in Hervey Bay, if that’s your thing. It’s especially great for families, big groups or anyone who wants breakfast with a breeze. Aquavue Hervey Bay also offers tapas, a dinner menu and live music regularly, so be sure to book a table and enjoy a casual, waterfront dining experience.

Best For: Waterfront brunches + beachside hangs
