What is the Riri Blue Hole Vanuatu?

Vanuatu, an archipelago in the South Pacific, hides a secret paradise – the Riri Blue Hole.

It’s a natural swimming hole and river, formed by the trickling in on freshwater from the island’s mountains.

Imagine turquoise waters so clear you can see the vibrant marine life beneath. The Riri Blue Hole is not just a destination; it’s an aquatic wonder waiting to be explored. The limestone basin & minerals gives the blue holes in Vanuatu that incredible clear/blue coloration.

Nanda Blue Hole Vanuatu (also known as Jackie’s)

The Nanda Blue Hole offers a balance of adventure and relaxation. Its vibrant underwater world makes it a haven for snorkelers, while the serene atmosphere is ideal for a leisurely swim.

This blue hole was a lot deeper than expected, illustrated by the deep blue, almost navy coloration.

Nanda Blue Hole is also known as Jackie’s Blue Hole. It does cost a little more than other swimming locations on the island, but you do receive a drink & cake as an inclusion in the cost.

Matevulu Blue Hole Vanuatu

Nestled amidst lush greenery, the Matevulu Blue Hole has rope swings at the ready.

Personally, this was my least favourite blue hole to visit. It also felt like the most ‘commercial’ of the three.

It didn’t quite have the charm that the Riri Blue Hole offers.

Malo Blue Hole

Embarking on a journey to Malo Island adds an adventurous touch, yet the captivating sight of the island’s blue hole will assure you it’s a rewarding experience!

To get there, use public transport or secure a driver to transport you to Malo Landing, situated roughly 30 minutes south of Luganville.

At Malo Landing, opt for a $30 round-trip package to rent a speedboat and enlist a guide, to take you across on the 20-minute journey to Malo Island.

While I’m still yet to visit, it looks like a fantastic opportunity to explore and see another part of Espiritu Santo.

Final Thoughts

As you plan your Vanuatu adventure, make sure the Riri Blue Hole is on your itinerary.

The iridescent blue waters, lush surroundings, and the thrill of exploration make it a must-visit destination. Whether you’re an avid diver, nature enthusiast, or someone seeking a peaceful escape, Riri Blue Hole Vanuatu promises an unforgettable experience.
